The city of Plano is home to over 270,000 residents and is the ninth largest city in Texas.  It sits on over 71 square miles with homes for sale in all price ranges covering a vast variety of architecture and community environments.

In 2006, Plano was selected as the 11th best place to live in the United States by CNN Money magazine. It was also selected as the safest city in America in 2010 and 2011 by Forbes. Plano schools consistently score among the highest in the nation.  Plano was rated the 10th Best Suburb for Education in the Nation in 2014 due to having one of the lowest student-teacher ratios (14 to 1), a high school graduation rate of 94 percent and some of the highest test scores in the nation. It has been rated as the wealthiest city in the United States by CNN Money, and the United States Census Bureau declared Plano the wealthiest city of 2008 by comparing the median household income for all U.S. cities whose populations were greater than 250,000.  The annual Plano Balloon Festival and the Plano International Festival are two of the city’s premiere cultural and entertainment events.

 

Parks and Recreation:

There are over 3800 acres of parks managed by the city of Plano with a little over 4000 acres to be managed in the coming years.  Arbor Hills Nature Preserve, Bob Woodruff Park, and Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve are the highlight of Plano’s parks.

Within the city of Plano there are several golf courses to choose from like Los Rios and Chase Oaks.  For the more serious enthusiast there is Prestonwood Country Club and Gleneagles Country Club.  There are over 50 miles of walking, jogging and biking trails in Plano.  There are five recreation centers. They are Tom Muehlenbeck Center, Carpenter Park Recreation Center, Oak Point Recreation Center, Liberty Recreation Center, and Douglass Community Center all managed by the City of Plano Parks and Recreation.

 

Lifestyle:

Plano is no secret anymore with all the positive press from Money Magazine, Forbes, and the Wall Street Journal , residents want to get here quickly and homes generally sell pretty quick.  Plano is home to art galleries like the Haggard Park Historic District, movie theaters, and farmers markets.

 

Schools, Health and Transportation:

The Plano Independent School District is composed of over 70 schools, 55,000 students, and 7,000 employees.  There are several private schools Prestonwood, Prince of Peace, and John Paul II.  Collin College also serves the Plano area.

 

Medical and healthcare facilities include the Presbyterian Hospital of Plano, Medical Center of Plano and IHS Hospital at Plano.

As a suburb of Dallas/Fort Worth, Plano is part of the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) system. Recently, DART’s light rail project opened stations in the city, giving those who commute into the Dallas metro area a convenient.
